On the 3rd of May, Margi?gave her first steps as a "peregrino" when she departed?from St Jean Pied de Port to finish in Santiago de Compostella, approximately 800? km's later. Her objective is to raise awareness and funds for the street children in Cape Town as she walks without aid or assistance, identifying with so many marginalized children. |
The Camino de Santiago de Compostela is an ancient pilgrim's route dating from the Middle Ages.? Over two months, Margi will follow in the way of ancient footsteps as she walks the Camino Franc?s route from St Jean Pied de Port crossing the snow capped Pyrenees mountains that mark the border with France. Her route in northern Spain passes through many villages and towns, over mountain passes and over barren, desolate plains en route to the town of Santiago de Compostela, the legendary resting place of the body of the apostle St James.
